[private: readable by close friends and family - blocked from her husband]
For those of you that have not heard, I recently enrolled in a martial arts class. It has been a lot of work, but it has also been a lot of fun. Needless to say, I am enjoying myself immensely. Not only am I in better shape, I have made several new friends. Unfortunately, I do not know if it is something that I will be allowed to continue.
This afternoon, I made a mistake in the routine. As luck would have, that mistake lead to an injury. I have a black eye. I have not told Thomas. I do not anticipate him taking the news very well. I can only hope that he does not demand that I give up my new hobby. I know that he is going to grossly overreact, but there is the chance that I can talk some sense into him.

Today was an eventful day. I believe I will take a hot bath while I wait for my husband to return from work.

It is rare that I am able to sit down and enjoy a film, but that is exactly what I did this evening.
It will come as no great shock to anyone that knows me, but I am a huge fan of Liam Neeson. I actually had the pleasure of meeting him once. He is quite nice and much more attractive in person.
… and that was not the point of this update.
Taken was an enjoyable movie. Netflix has sent me Unknown. I am hoping that I will be able to watch it at some point in the near future.

Disgraced New York Representative Anthony Weiner resigned his house seat today.
I, for one, think that he should have resigned three weeks ago rather than dragging it out. I cannot imagine what this has done to his wife, and I am not speaking of her political career. In his resignation speech, he said that he was apologizing to his neighbors, constituents, and wife. I believe his words were something akin to, "I make this apology to my neighbors and my constituents, but I make it particularly to my wife." Were I his wife, I would not be so for much longer.
It is bad enough that this grown man was 'sexting' a woman that was not his wife. (Let me take a moment to say that I think that is the most asinine word in existence.) It is made worse by the fact that he was doing this with a seventeen year old girl, though.
I am appalled at the mass of people that think this does not affect his ability to do what is required of him. Do they not realize that his obvious lack of morals could lead to him being bribed or blackmailed in his career?
As much as I hate to admit it, this has frustrated me beyond the telling of it. I believe I will go have a bath.

Thomas and I had an amazing weekend away. It is a shame that we cannot celebrate our anniversary once a month rather than once a year.

I am aching. Luckily, my schedule is clear. I think I will go home and take a long, hot bath.

If you need a sitter, I will gladly watch your little angel. I do enjoy spending time with him. I believe he counters my empty nest syndrome.

"He remembers dates, birthdays," Mrs. Obama said last week on "Live! With Regis and Kelly." "He doesn't forget a thing, even when I think he is. . I'll have a little attitude. I give him a little attitude, but he always comes through." SOURCE
I do not mean to gloat, but it sounds as though President Obama, like all men, pales when compared to my husband.

I do hope you will be spending the day with me, love.

Recently, I began to volunteering my time to Mercy Home for Boys & Girls.
For those that unfamiliar with the organization, they are a local, nonprofit child care institution and licensed child welfare agency. They provide around-the-clock care in a safe and stable home for 134 young people, ages 11 to 21. They give children who have suffered abuse, neglect, poverty and abandonment the opportunity to rebuild their lives and the encouragement to realize their dreams.
They are 99.8% privately funded and operate on two local campuses. If you are unable to donate your time and would like to give a monitory donation, call 1-877-MERCY-55 (1-877-637-2955).
The young women and men I have become acquainted with during the last couple of months are true inspirations. I would share more of their stories, but I would never intentionally betray their trust.

Their is one young man named Christopher. He is eleven years old and easily one of the most adorable creatures I have ever met. When upset or frustrated, he says, "Good grief." Each and every time it brings a smile to my face because I am reminded of Charlie Brown. The fact that he loves football only adds to that image.
I wish they were all as great as young Christopher. I was recently cornered by one of the older gentlemen that live at the facility. He said some truly awful things… referencing the size of his penis and telling me what he would do to me if he was given five minutes alone with me. The boy was reprimanded, of course, but it makes me wonder what he must have gone through to turn into that. I feel truly sorry for him. I wish there was more that I could do to help him, but I believe it would be unintelligent to give him the five minutes alone with me that he spoke of.

As much as i hate to admit it, I feel restless during the summer months. Do not get me wrong, I enjoy volunteering, but I do not want to be indoors when the weather is so incredibly beautiful.
Lately, I find myself contemplating a vacation. I realize that is nothing more than a selfish whim, but I do believe I will be giving into it.
[Thomas]
Will you be able to take some time off this summer, love? A vacation is not a vacation unless I have you at my side.
[/Thomas]
[Matthew]
It has been far too long since we have gotten together. If you will let me know when you are free, I will clear my schedule. I miss you.

Abortion is completely unacceptable, but this is one instance in which I would support such a decision. That woman is completely detestable. I wish I could help Matthew in some way. He doesn't deserve to be tied to her for another eighteen years.
Kutrena did not come home last night. I am worried about her. During the last year, her behavior has been above reproach. The other women at the group home think she has run away. I do no agree. Kutrena would not do that. She has put far too much effort into pulling herself out of the gutter. She even earned her general equivalency diploma. She is supposed to start college courses this fall. I intend to look for her once I have had lunch.

I know this is a stupid question, but how are you?

My day has ended a little earlier than anticipated. What would you like for lunch?

Since returning from our vacation, I have been working with The Glass Slipper Project. It is a wonderful organization.
If you are anything like me, you have a few formal dresses that have never been worn or have been worn only once. If you are willing to part with these garments, The Glass Slipper Project would be incredibly grateful for your donation. The same goes for any unwanted shoes and accessories.
You can take the donations to the addresses on the website. If that is too much trouble, though, simply let me know. I will happily do it for you.

[private] I did not intend for Thomas to catch me in that particular position, but I am almost glad he did. After all, I was well rewarded for the embarrassment. I would arrange for it to happen again, but I believe that would take away from the moment.
It goes without saying, of course, but I have thought about it a lot during the last couple of days. [/private]
Thomas and I have made the proper arrangements. We leave next week. I must admit, I am looking forward to this vacation. It has been far too long since I have taken time away from my work.
[Thomas] Will you be home in the coming days? I know there will be some things that require your attention before we depart, but I was hoping you would be able to deal with them without leaving the state. It is understandable if you must, of course. I was merely curious. [/Thomas]
[Matthew] We should have dinner before I leave. [/Matthew]

I have donated money to helping the survivors in Haiti, but it is not enough.
Diarrheal illnesses, acute respiratory infections and malnutrition are beginning to claim the lives of those that made it through the cataclysmic earthquake. For example, fourteen-month-old Abigail Charlot survived the devastation only to be die at the hospital because of fever and diarrhea.
Health officials are rushing to vaccinate 530,000 children against measles, diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough, but they still fear a contagious-disease outbreak.
300,000 people are injured. Patients continue arriving that the hospitals with infections wounds that they are unable to keep clean because they are living on the streets.
Food shortages and inadequate security is breading violence. People are simply shooting one another.
It has been nearly a month since the earth quake. Respiratory infections, malnutrition, diarrhea from waterborne diseases and lack of appropriate food for young children are likely the biggest killers. Acute child malnutrition is only expected to worsen until the summer harvest in August. Forty-seven percent of Haiti's population of more than 9 million is under the age of 18.
I want to go to Haiti. I want to help these children. It breaks my heart to think of these children dying simply because they do not have enough food to eat. Something must be done. I do not think I could live with myself if I did not do more to help this nation.
